Establishing this Residential Aged Care Facility RACF on a subject site with a 16 metre decline from top to bottom, was an evident challenge faced in the design phase of the project. The key difficulty was successfully resolved through establishing two major wings to the building; aligning to the natural contours of the site.
The structural concept was necessarily very efficient and the materiality was derived from widely recognised detailing of homes. Therefore the architecture for the project occurred by using these systems in an innovative matter to create a statement building positioned in the landscape.
